Writing in more than one language
A website can have several languages. Each post then has a version per language, and readers get their own language when a version exists, otherwise the default.
Turn languages on
Open Website settings → Languages
Choose the Default language and add the Languages you write in.
Save
Before saving, the dashboard tells you how many posts have no version in a language yet.
Add a version of a post
In the editor, the language switcher shows each language's status: Published, Draft, Scheduled or Not created. Choose a language and Add {language} version. The category, tags and images are shared by all versions; the title, body and search fields are per language.
When a version is missing
Readers who ask for a language with no version get the default one. Nothing breaks, and no empty page is shown.
What search engines get
- Each version has its own address. On the hosted blog:
/b/your-blog/es/my-post - The versions point to each other with
hreflangtags, so Google shows each reader their language - The sitemap lists every published version
