Add a blog to a Replit app

A Replit app is your own code, so there are two ways in: give Replit's Agent the CMSKite prompt, or add the SDK yourself. About ten minutes either way.

Before you start

  • A Replit app you can edit and deploy
  • A CMSKite account with at least one published post
  • Your app's address saved in Website settings → General

With the Agent

  1. Copy the prompt

    In the dashboard open Connect your website and choose AI builder prompt.

  2. Send it to the Agent

    Paste it as one message. The Agent adds a blog list and a post page.

  3. Keep the key safe

    The prompt holds a read-only key for your site, shown once. It can read published posts only. Copy the prompt before you leave the page.

  4. Deploy

    Changes in the workspace preview are not public until you deploy.

By hand

Add a project key from Developer → API keys to Replit's Secrets as CMSKITE_API_KEY, then read posts on the server:

bash
npm install cmskite
ts
import { createCMSKite } from 'cmskite'

const cms = createCMSKite({ apiKey: process.env.CMSKITE_API_KEY! })
const { items } = await cms.posts.list({ limit: 20 })

Not a JavaScript app? The API is two HTTP requests in any language: Without a framework.

Check what Google sees

Open a post on the deployed app, view the page source and search for a sentence from it. If it is missing, the page is drawn in the browser: ask the Agent to render the blog pages on the server, or link to your free blog link.

Check that it works

  1. Publish a short test post in the dashboard
  2. Open the blog page of your app in a private window and reload. The post should be in the list within a minute
  3. Open the post. Its address should be your site's, not cmskite.com
  4. Delete or unpublish the test post when you are done
