Turn it on

  1. Open Website settings → General and find the Newsletter card.
  2. Turn on Collect email subscribers. A sign-up form now shows on your blog.
  3. Turn on Email new posts if you want each new post sent to your readers.
Hosted blog address needed. Set a hosted blog address in the same settings page first. The confirmation and unsubscribe links open on that address. You need the settings permission to change any of this.

How readers sign up

The sign-up form says Get new posts by email. It shows on your hosted blog and in the embedded blog.

A reader types an address and presses Subscribe. CMSKite sends a confirmation email. The address joins your list only after the reader opens the link in that email and presses Confirm subscription.

  • A sign-up that is never confirmed expires after 7 days.
  • The confirmation email is sent again at most once an hour, and at most 3 times for one address.
  • The form gives the same answer for a new address, a known address and a bot, so nobody can use it to check who is on your list.

What gets sent

With Email new posts on, each post is emailed once, when it goes live. Posts older than 2 days are not sent. Turning the option on does not mail your old posts.

  • The email goes to subscribed readers in the post's original language.
  • It links to the post on your canonical address.
  • It has an unsubscribe link. The link opens a page with an Unsubscribe button, so mail scanners cannot unsubscribe anyone by accident.

Your subscriber list

The card shows how many readers are Subscribed, Unconfirmed and Unsubscribed, and a Recent emails list with how many readers each one reached.

  • Search by email and filter by status.
  • Each row shows where the reader signed up: hosted blog, embed or import.
  • Export CSV downloads subscribers.csv with email, status, source, locale and the dates.
  • Remove deletes a subscriber. They get no more emails, and they can sign up again.

Subscriber limits

Each plan has a subscriber limit. When it is reached, new sign-ups are turned away until you upgrade. The limit also applies when a post is sent, so a workspace that moves to a smaller plan emails its first readers only.
