AI crawlers and AI search
AI assistants answer questions by reading pages. Some of their bots read to cite you in an answer; others only collect training data. You decide which may read your hosted blog.
Choose a policy
In Website settings → SEO profile → AI crawlers:
| Policy | What happens |
|---|---|
| Allow all | AI search and AI training bots may read your posts |
| Block training bots | AI search can still cite you; bots that only collect training data are blocked |
| Block all AI bots | No AI bot may read your posts. AI answers will not cite you |
This sets the robots.txt of your hosted blog. Your own website keeps its own robots.txt.
Make posts easy to quote
- Answer the question in the first paragraph, then explain
- Use questions as subheadings
- Add a summary and FAQ
- Cite numbers with their source
The AI answers checks of the SEO report look for each of these.
See which bots visit
Analytics counts visits by AI crawlers to your hosted blog, apart from people, so your reader numbers stay honest. See Analytics.
